The project included the demolition of the existing viaduct over railroad line No. 132 and the construction of a new structure along National Road No. 46, in Dabrowa Niemodlinskaya. The new viaduct was designed as a steel Langer arch with a span of 41.6 m and a width of 13.9 m, located parallel to the previous structure.
The structure’s grade was raised by 1.7 meters to bring the gauge in line with current PKP technical conditions. The work included expansion of road embankments, adjustment of the road geometry to GP and S class parameters, and installation of new traffic safety devices.
The viaduct was designed using BIM technology, which greatly simplified the effective planning of construction stages, allowing for the continuity of road and rail traffic.
The project won the grand prize in the category of “Realized structure with a span of less than 70 meters” awarded by the magazine “Bridges”, in the 15th edition of the Sakharov Competition. Maximilian Wolff.
